🗼What is Tokyo Ghoul:re: Anime and Manga

Tokyo Ghoul:re is an anime based on the manga Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida. It began airing in April 2017 and ended in March 2018, consisting of 12 episodes. The show features the same characters from the original series but with new roles and storylines.

We’ve all been waiting for the next season of Tokyo Ghoul, and it’s finally here! This season picks up four years after the end of the first season and follows a new group of characters. But even if you haven’t seen Tokyo Ghoul before, don’t worry: there are some great ways to catch up on what happened in this world before diving into season two:

The Committee for Countermeasures Against Ghouls

The Committee for Countermeasures Against Ghouls (abbreviated as CCG) is a special operations force that was originally created to investigate and deal with the ghoul threat. However, they have expanded their influence and now control most of Tokyo. This organization is known as the GCC. The structure of this police force consists of three branches: The Public Security Bureau (PSB), the Special Countermeasures Unit (SCU) and the Administration Bureau. These three divisions are responsible for handling all matters related to ghouls.

The Quinx Squadron

  • The Quinx Squad is a team of GCC researchers who have undergone surgery to implant a quinque inside their bodies, allowing them to fight ghouls more effectively.
  • Their leader is Haise Sasaki, who is known as the “One-Eyed Owl”.
  • They were created by Dr. Kanou and trained by Chie Hori.

This new story revolves around a ghoul named Haise Sasaki, who was raised by his adoptive father Kouitsu Washuu after being orphaned at the age of three. After being trained as an investigator and working under Kishou Arima, he becomes the mentor of several Quinx ghouls in their fight against Rize Kamishiro and his followers.

The animation in Tokyo Ghoul:re is top notch, as expected from Studio Pierrot. The pacing of the story has improved and the action scenes are even more dynamic and the characters have become more serious about their roles in this :re edition.
